Last Time Accessed Indexing... Is this supported by Zoom Search? If so, how? I normally would search the threads for the answer but I'm a little short on time and would really appreciate it if anyone can help me... What I need to do is to add weight to the frequency in which the file/page is accessed... or any suggestion as to how to implement this... Thanks in advanceZoom does not currently store any data on how often, or when, a web page is accessed. There is more to this than you may have considered. Where are you thinking of getting this information from? If you're thinking of the web server log (which would be the most accurate and include all accesses to your website), then how would this be accessed? There are a great v...... - 2009-07-03
» Increase FPS in games with load minimisation!
Many of you maybe gamers without good systems. Have you been worried with the usual FPS woes? Here is a simple tip you can do while playing games, atleast on linux and BSD systems, to make 'em run much better than expected. The GUI of the OS is one thing that takes lots of memory. The various processes like X, the window manager(s), the side applets, other unwanted(atleast in a gaming context) stuff like a media scan daemon, compiz fusion, update checker, etc use lots of system resources like ram and cpu cycles. You definitely don't need them while gaming. So try booting from the commandline mode instead. A simple advice, but it really pumps up the FPS. For example, in ubuntu you can use the recovary mode or the failsafe terminal session...... - 2009-07-03
» How can I get my wife to quit smoking?
My wife has smoked for over 10 years. I really want her to stop because I believe it's the cause of a lot of her health problems (her nose is constantly stopped up, she has bad allergies, she's always tired, her sex drive is NOT good at all, etc...). I love her very much but I don't want to lose her to cancer or even worse, live WITH her if she gets emphaszima (is that how you spell it?). I've smoked for 3 years but I can honestly quit any time I want to (I quit for 4 months so I could lose weigh so quitting is NOT an issue for me...and I'm being 100% truthful). Every time I mention it she gets upset. She says she'll quit when our lives have less stress. But that's never going to happen because life ...... - 2009-07-03
» 36 inch Panasonic Flat screen?
My picture tube is not working up to snuff. The tube is dark at times and the upper part of the tv seems to go dark. I have the verizon fios tv guy out yesterday hoping it was the fios but it is not. He seems to think that it is the picture tube. Is it worthing getting fixed or should i just go look for another tv? ThanksIf it is a flat screen then there is no picture tube. That would be a CRT television. If the top part of the screen is dark all the way from left to right then I would assume it is the back lights. They are like fluorescent tube bulbs you see on the ceiling at Target or Wal-mart or the doctor's office. You would need to open up the panel and replace a portion of those tubes. » How are scientists trying to deliver modified genes to organs in the body that need them?
Viral vectors. Lentiviruses are proven to work, but they insert randomly and thus can cause cancer. Adeno-associated viruses are the new hope. They insert at a single known location. However, viral vectors will not be able to treat someone with a dominant disease such as Huntington's. We would need to find a way to use homologous recombination to replaces the defective gene.I'm not all that into gene therapy but right now I'm pretty sure the main strategy people are using is viral. We can modify specific types of virus's to deliver genes to cells. The problems are specificity both in the cell type and where in the genome the DNA ends up and can also cause a severe immune response. Most gene therapy involves ...... - 2009-07-03
» What is the highest tournament a NYC high school team can achieve?
Is it true a NYC team is limited to its city championship? How does competition from a national level work for example when Telfair and Lincoln played Dwight Howard and Southwest Christian (I think thats his school)? Schools can join a national tournament (especially if they are ranked high) and actually play for a pretend national championship. I say pretend just because it does not really include all of the schools. I believe that most of the schools that do this are more private basketball academys. ...... - 2009-07-03

» Why is porn illeagal for people under the age of 18 (or 21 in some states)?
just wonderingI don't know, but I've always had somewhat of a different view of it. Look at what's on our television. There's shoot 'em up movies on TV all of the time. People killing each other. Video games with people killing each other, etc etc. Not saying it shouldn't be on, but then look at pornography. It's completely taboo, yet, sex is completely natural and normal, and something that everyone (well mostly everyone) is going to do someday. Children need to be educated at a young age as to what sex is, and not taught that it's incredibly dirty. Just be informed. It doesn't mean teach your kids to be sluts, but to inform them of what it really is.porn is not illegal for kids to see, but it i...... - 2009-07-03
» Is there any way to do this? (laundry question)?
Getting foundation out of white jeans? I'm desperate. I've been looking all over for replacement jeans but for some reason, the stores have decided that unless it's summer, you're not allowed to wear white jeans and so don't sell them =( I am willing to use products of industrial strength if that is what is required. Thanks for your help in advance.Spray and wash, let it sit a few minutes then wash it with tide with bleach. Good luck!Firstly don't use bleach! It will only leave a yellowish stain where it is splashed. You might try some makeup remover on a q-tip unless the stain has been washed and dried already. It may take several days or a week or two of doing this. Just keep it wet while you are working on...... - 2009-07-03
» Some X-Mas ideas Telephoto or Macro
So I'm at a dilemma here and I come to you good people of the forum. I'm looking to get either a good telephoto or macro lens. Around the price of $300, are there any good lenses out there. Being this is only my second lens for my Rebel XT (first being the standard 18-55mm) I don't think it needs to be outstanding. Now personally, I would like a macro lens but from my research I can't find anything under 500 (unless you tell me otherwise). So I figured a telephoto lens would be good for some great bird shots (I'm in an area where there's all sorts of beautiful cardinals and blue jays during the spring). I know there are other lenses besides Canon I could go with but in all honesty don't know where to begin in my search. How about a Sigma...... - 2009-07-03
» Mac Word - Pages Not Printing Properly
:tophat: I have a user that is having a problem printing Word documents. When she prints, the document starts printing from a third of the way down but at the top of the page (ie the text at the top of the page is lost). When you view the document with print preview everything looks fine. I have checked all the margins, page setup, printer setup and alignment. The document prints fine from another Mac. This problem does not occur when she creates a new document from the template - only when she accesses a document created by some else. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks SuzDoes she save a copy on her own computer? Sometimes that can make a difference. Also, are these other documents produced on other Macs ...... - 2009-07-03

» How did Roman legionary fortresses create local towns that exist today in Britain?
I know that because the soldiers were there and needed entertainment, merchants came to the areas where the camps where and businesses sprung up, then after the soldiers moved on the people stay there, but I'm having trouble finding websites or books that describe this in more detail or with examples? Can anyone suggest any websites or books with more information on this topic? Thank you very much! :DThe website http://www.postroman.info/ is really quite detailed on Britain in the decades after the Romans left, it would be a good starting point. After tornado season, I am thinking of finally getting a wide screen HD TV. However, after reading some consumer reports, and hearing different things about them, not sure if it is a good idea. My big questions is...how does chaser video look on them. Apparently only things in "HD" look really good on them. But regular TV (like the local channels) look pretty bad, much worse than a analog TV. I currently have a high end Sony TV that is big and has a flat screen, but it is bulky and not HD. » blue tongue lizard has had a moult, his upper jaw fell off. Will it grow back and will he lose his bottom jaw?
Well, typically when this happens to a blue tongued lizard it means, as you've deduced, that they are changing. Typically they change to vampiric 'devil lizards,' but sometimes they turn into 'werelizards.' These are the ones you have to look out for. You'll be calmly petting your lizard one night and all of a sudden you have a severed femoral artery and a very angry werelizard. Watch out. Good luck with your lizard. sadly, he will not grow his upper jaw back. the most likely reason being that he has a disease of some kind so if you mess with him wash your hands after you do. also because he lost his jaw it will be extremely hard for him to eat obviously, he will probably starve to death. the humane ...... - 2009-07-03

My TV is a Sony Bravia(KF-55E200A). Will it be able to play games on the XBOX 360 or PS3 in HD?Yes, with a maximum resolution of 1080i. You can connect either system using the HDMI port or using one of the 3 available component video ports.Yes it will but not a complete full HD. Your TV is a projection type which is only capable of 1080i resolution which is equivalent to 1280x168 only. Full HD (a.k.a. 1080p) resolution is 1920x1080. For Xbox, it is good enough but for PS3, you wont be able to enjoy full HD in all it's glory. But it's not a bad resolution. These days, resolution is only 1 of the things to consider in buying a TV. Yet if we try too hard, what happens is like you say you experience inconsequential fluff and "conversational" output. From experience this can also help you to focus what is meant to be written. » Japan Warns Nigeria over Avian Influenza Pandemic
Japan Warns Nigeria over Avian Influenza Pandemic From Patrick Ugeh in Abuja, 07.12.2008 Japan has asked Nigerians to get prepared for an impending outbreak of avian and human influenza. That country’s ambassador in Nigeria, Mr. Toshitsugu Uesawa, dropped the warning while donating an 18-seater Toyota Hiace bus to Abuja Chicken Sellers Association at an enlightenment session. “Since it is widely said that the outbreak of avian and human influenza pandemic is a matter of time, we are required to be ready for the outbreak as much as possible,” he cautioned at the event that involved the Ministry of Information and Communications. According to him, the key to the preparedness was however not in the domain of the international community, t...... - 2009-07-03

And I know this next part is completely unsolicited and might earn me some displeasure from my fellow posters, however I feel compelled to say it; the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that your child watches no more than 1-2 hours of quality programming a day. » If you had the money, would you buy a thousand shares each of GM, FORD, and City bank, come Monday morning?
for each of your children. Not right now, no. When they change management and sales start to rise yes.Hell no. These companies have been mismanaged for too long, and this is why they have the problems they do. If I had the money, I'd buy silver or gold bullion coins instead. Invest $1000 in one of these companies now and in a month that would be worth $600, then a month later $300, then a month after that $100. The stock market is going into the dumps and soon will be worthless. Every day it seems the DJIA drops another 400 points, so at that rate the stock market should close somewhere around 98 by next summer. Of course, the main reason for all of this is there are just too many crooks in Wall Street, robbing millions every ...... - 2009-07-03
» What are some pagan aspects that we see in Christmas?
I read often that Christmas is a pagan holiday and want to know what are some, if not all, the pagan aspects of Christmas. The ancient European pagans celebrated the midwinter festival and a number of other festivals long before Christianity ever existed! Babylonians celebrated the feast of the Son of Isis with gluttonous eating and drinking, and gift giving and the goddess of fertility, love, and war. The Romans held a festival on 25 December called â œDies Natalis Solis Invicti, celebrating their own god Sol Invictas - PAGAN. The Persian god Mithras, the Syrian sun god Elah Gabal, the German Sol, the Greek Helios and the Mesopotamian Shamash. But also Saturnalia, honouring Saturn, the God of Agriculture. » How can I find angular velocity in this problem?
An object of mass of 4kg revolves in a circle with a radius of 2 meters attached by a massless string to the center. There is no gravity and no friction. It makes a turn every 16 seconds. What is the angular velocity? What is the centripetal acceleration? Can you explain how I can solve this? Thankyou.It makes a turn every 16 seconds, so its period is T = 16 seconds. The angular velocity will be ω = 2Ï / T = 2Ï / 16 = Ï /8 radian/second ≈ 0.39 rad/s And the centripetal acceleration: a = ω²R = (Ï /8)²×2 = Ï Â²/32 m/s² ≈ 0.308 m/s²It makes a turn every 16 seconds, so the angular velocity is 2Ï / 16 radians / second. The centripetal acceleration is m r ω² = ( 4 kg ) ( 2 m ) ( 2Ï / 16 )² = 1.2 m/s²...... - 2009-07-03

I can't remember seeing a seven spot up there, and the Galaxy have been playing poorly, to say the least. The oddsmakers must be crazy. They're not crazy. They're just trying to draw some action on Chivas. 7 for 1 is tempting on an MLS game.OK, let me get this straight, if you bet that Chivas wins its a 7 to 1 return or is it if you bet on LA to win? This photo is not in focus and the surface of the water is not plane, so now all your water will run out of my screen and onto my desk. Oh, the mess! ;) You do need more light than you had when you took these, and the camera needs to be on a tripod. That's my advice. Flash helps heaps. » New cameras worse than old ones?
I don't know if I have a wrong view on the world, but I have a feeling that newer cameras have worse pictures than old ones. Here I mean cameras with less pixels have sharper pictures with less noise. I think this makes some sense, since if you put more pixels on a same chip size, they have to be smaller so they need more light, resulting in needing of higher ISOs, noise compression and exposure times. If you reduce pixels on a high pixel camera it will just use a smaller part of it's chip, so the picture will not be better. (I'm not sure about all that, I'm just guessing here). I'm writing this because I just returned a brand new Panasonic TZ3 which was a big disapointment because of very dull, non sharp pictures. And looking back to my...... - 2009-07-03

Late on Thursday, an anomaly was detected in several services on the vBulletin server, which was affecting network throughput. The anomaly gradually became more detrimental to services and it was decided to reboot the server. Unfortunately, the server failed to reboot sucessfully. Analysis from staff at our data center led to the conclusion that the server had suffered a fatal error, and a complete system rebuild would be necessary. This rebuild was started as soon as our host could provide us with a clean server on which to work. As you can see, the rebuild i...... - 2009-07-03

Hello! I want to get a PS3 for Call of Duty 4 (I don't want to get a 360 'cos they break easily) and was hoping someone could tell me how good the controls are. I've heard that the thumbsticks on the PS3 don't work as well as the 360's for first person shooters. Can anyone help?I have both systems and (embarrassingly) COD4 for both. I prefer the 360 Controller because it has small "dips" on the analogue sticks as opposed to the rounded tops of the PS3 sticks so I find that my hands don't slip off them as much in the frenetic heat of battle! However, I had been playing COD4 on the 360 for a couple of months before starting on it on the PS3, so it may just be that I had got used to the 360 controller. Yo...... - 2009-07-03

I HEARD ABOUT VIDEO NOW, BUT IT ONLY PLAYS TV SHOWS. DO YOU KNOW OF ANY PORTABLE DVD PLAYERS ON THE GO FOR TODDLERS! MY SON ALWAYS GETS BORED AND I WOULD LOVE FOR HIM TO BE ENTERTAINED WITH MOVIES!Fisher Price makes a Kid-Tough portable DVD player that retails at Walmart for $129.00 which is said to withstand a fairly good beating. And I know this next part is completely unsolicited and might earn me some displeasure from my fellow posters, however I feel compelled to say it; the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that your child watches no more than 1-2 hours of quality programming a day. Instead of the DVD player, perhaps purchase some CDs for car rides that you can sing along with or have a small selection of books that are fo...... - 2009-07-03

The law courts and schoo...... - 2009-07-03

This disease is highly contageous and usually hits anyone who gets hit with the "droplet disease" really hard :D !!!

» Do FPS controls work on the PS3 controller?
